Art Courses runs for 12 weeks. Payment is made in two blocks/parts, depending on the length of the art course. Students can sign up for one block or the two blocks. Each block is six weeks
Course: Creative Watercolour with Drawing Skills Level: Intermediates – Structured Art Course

- Course Learning: This is carried out by some group, Individual group project work/themes and also some workshop style learning. This also stimulates creative ideas & techniques. ‘One to One’ advice & guidance to help you develop & produce your art work in the lesson/throughout the art course
- Students can bring their own photographs to work from, related to project work. There is a photocopy fee of (80p) per A4 photocopy or £5:00 for the term, if one chooses to use photographic reference provided by the Tutor.
- A project Questionnaire is available for you to fill & add projects you wish to learn & have demonstrated, along with technical skills & mediums. This helps me to support your learning on the course. (Please enquire & I will email you the form).

Further Course Information
Over View of the Beginners Art Courses:
Beginners Watercolour Courses: You will learn/focus on watercolour processes & techniques. The watercolour medium will be combined with graphite/pencil medium, inks & textural mediums. You will also learn drawing & sketching skills. Watercolours is a lovely medium to learn, due to the manipulation & textures you can create with it.
Beginners Mixed Media Drawing & Painting Course: You will learn watercolour processes & techniques. You will also learn about drawing mediums & water-based mediums, such as Acrylics. Once the mediums have been gradually learnt they can be combined to create exciting expressive paintings.
What you will learn on the Beginners Art Courses:-
- Preparation of all surfaces & paint mediums to create the paintings: How to prepare paper or canvas & paint mediums. Use of various types of papers, brushes, palettes, processes drawing & paint mediums etc.
- Mark-making, Texture & Brush Application used to suggest various aspects of the environment such as foliage, grass, floral, tree, water, rock, & brick work detail etc.
- Wash Application: How to apply washes for backgrounds & foregrounds. How to achieve water & paint consistency,
- Highlights, Resist & lifting out techniques to achieve highlights on objects & clouds formations etc
- Colour mixing & Tone: starting with simple colour mixes.
- Aerial Perspective/Depth: How to achieve distant, depth & aerial perspective through the application of colour, flat washes & layering.
- Composition & Design: How to draw, plan, structure, build up & develop scenes.
- Simple drawing skills: you will learn simple drawing skills which will enable you to achieve the proportions, depth & perspective that is required in some scenes. This will help you to confidently draw/sketch & plan scene(s) etc.
- Other technical skills covered: will be the various properties of watercolour. This is quite specific to watercolour medium.
- Mediums Gradually Covered: Graphite, Charcoal, Pastels, Pen & Ink, FW Acrylic Inks, Watercolours, Acrylics & Water-based Oils.
The Intermediate Art Courses:
Students on the intermediate art courses build up on skills, technical processes & mediums learnt on the Beginners Art Courses. The students cover a variety of subject themes, mediums & technical skills through group & individual project work, including workshop learning. All group & Individual project themes are discussed with the Tutor. Demonstrations, guidance & advice from the Tutor help you to develop your paintings/project work. Students work at their own pace. The course builds confidence & enables one to develop their own creative ideas/skills
Creative Watercolour Intermediate Course: The learning on the course is structured. Watercolour techniques will be focused on, but can also be combined imaginatively & creatively with drawing mediums, graphite, ink & water-based/textural surface mediums. All mediums & technical skills will be demonstrated. The learning will be carried out through group project work/themes.
Mixed Media Drawing & Painting Intermediate Courses: Drawing skills & sketching skills will be built upon & developed. All drawing & water-based mediums/techniques are taught/demonstrated. This includes collage using paper & fabric. Also simple print making techniques such as mono printing. The learning will be carried out through group & Individual project work. You will build upon drawing & water-based mediums/skills learnt at Beginners level. You can concentrate on a medium you enjoy learning about.
Subject Themes Covered: Seasonal Landscapes, Seascape/Water in Various Moods, Portraiture (human & animals), Putting figures into a scene, Still life, Buildings; Ruins, Old & Modern, Erosion & Dereliction, Town/Street Scenes, Plants, flowers etc. The scenes created can be realistic or abstract in design.
Project Work & Demonstrations: All project themes, mediums & technical skills will be supported by Demonstrations to help with your learning. Feed back & advice is given on the development/progression of all art work produced
Project Work: Students learn through project work which will enable them to explore their creative skills & apply personal expression/interpretation into their painting.

All Students work at their own pace. Personal creativity & development is important on the art course.
Course Fee: This depends on numbers attending the art course.
Half Term Dates: Monday 26th – Friday 30th May There won’t be any art classes running during the Whitsun Half Term Break
