Course: Beginners Mixed Media (Creative Drawing & Painting Techniques)

Beginner Students – Drawing Course: You will be introduced to simple drawing & sketching skills. You will explore how to use the graphite medium. This will be pencils (soft to hard pencil grades) & graphite sticks. These can be combined with the gouache (water-based) medium. We will explore & experiment with non-water-based graphite & water-based graphite.

On the course you will explore mark-making using various grades of pencils to depict trees, bark textures, foliage, plant & ground detail. This includes textured & smooth methods to create tone. Blending techniques using the paper Torchons to draw & blend Graphite. Rubbers & erasers create sky, cloud & highlights. Embossing tools  & techniques to create bark & ground textures. Composition to plan & construct the scene. Aerial  perspective to build & create depth to the Land/Treescape Scenes.  

  • Tuition & Learning: This course will run for twelve weeks. It is split into two six week blocks. It enables one to focus on specific themes, skills, techniques & mediums.
    All mediums & techniques will  be demonstrated. They will be shown step-by-step.
    ‘One to one’ discussion & advice  will be given on the progression & development of your art work
